Year 8 dinner

On Thursday it was the year 8 dinner at the Ngatea Memorial hall. When we got there we had photos taken with our families and then we went and sat down at our table. We got to talk for a bit and then we got told to go get our dinner. After dinner there were some speeches from some students about the time the year 8's had at Ngatea Primary School. We then went on to listen to the guest speaker Paul Bowman. He did a speech about what he has done in his life. He has played Table Tennis for New Zealand, he has had lots of diferent roles in the Police force and he has completed some Ironman events. He really inspired me to try really hard, chase my goals and never think that I can't. We then had dessert and after that we watched the year 8 videos. At the end we each got called up to get a cd with all of the year 8 videos on it. Overall it was a great night and the food was really good.

Who inspires me

The person that inspires me the most in the whole world is Aaron Gwin because of all of his achievements, he has won 4 world downhill mountain bike cups in a row and he made history by winning a world cup round when his chain broke right at the top of his run and he could not pedal the whole way down.

He grew up doing BMX then he moved on to motocross he stopped doing motocross because of all of the injuries that he got. Then one day one of his friends let him borrow his mountain bike and the went for a ride he realized when he started riding that he was really fast and it was really fun, within six months of riding he was on the world circuit and moving up the ranks fast.

You probably don’t know who this is so search him up.

All Blacks win world cup

On the 1/11/15 the rugby world champs final was on, it was the All Black vs the Wallabies. The game was on in Twikenham stadium in London, the stadium was fully packed with a whole lot of fans. All of the pubs in New Zealand and Aussie were fully packed with fans. the game started at 5:am in the morning I got up just on time to watch it. The All Blacks got a early lead with a few penalties at the start of the game, about halfway through the first half we scored I thought we had a good lead by the but the Aussies scored a try and got a few penalty's to close the gap but then Ma'a Nonu and Bauden Barrett scored magnificent try's to ceal the lead until the end of the game to bring the cup home again.

Art evaluation

In term three we did Zentangle art, first we did some hands were we traced our hands and then we had to draw lots of made up patterns, then draw them all through out the hand. the next one that we did we had to draw something that we liked or represented yourself and draw patterns inside them, I drew a helmet because that represents me, the hardest part was trying to find new patterns. Surprisingly my hand took longer than my helmet, my hand took about 3/4 of the term and then I had to finish my helmet in the time I had left. I did a lot of changes to make it look better, my favorite pattern was my compass on my hand.

Mechanics impact trip

Yesterday the mechanics impact group and Mr Mac went to Hauraki Plains Motors. We went there to watch Adam one of the mechanics fix a Honda crf250r 2005, when he got all the parts for the motorbike he told us how the piston works and how the cam chain was all jammed up. The mechanic wasn't sure what was wrong with the motorbike but I think the cam chain had jammed up the piston from going up and down or the oil was to old and it wasn't lubricating everything and making it run smoothly. At the end we asked him if he had any spare motors left and he gave us a lawnmower motor to take apart.

At the start of last week me and Tukahui made a simple pull back car out of 1 skewer, 2 Cd's, 1 toy car, four little pieces of cardboard, 1 big piece of cardboard, 1 rubber band, 1 straw and lots of tape. Mine and Tukahui's didn't really go the far or fast but it was fun making it.

All blacks RWC sqaud

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen names his squad for the Rugby World Cup at 6.30pm on Sunday, after having made some big calls to reduce his initial squad of 41 to 31.
At the beginning of the season Hansen made the comment that '41 doesn't fit into 31' and he and selectors and to ensure they have the right people on the plane to England.
The Herald's Steve Orsbourn has produced an insight into the players and coaches minds and the thinking behind selecting the nation's finest 31.
Who will be Dan Carter's back-up? Will they risk Waisake Naholo? Is it risky to leave Israel Dagg at home? All those questions will be answered on Sunday.

NZ flag change

There has been a lot of debate going on about the change of flag there were over 1,000 entries and they have got it down to four, my favorite one is by Kyle Lockwood and 33 percent of the voters voted for it, his two designs got the most votes by far but there were quite a few people that voted to keep the flag though.

New Olympic sports for Tokyo in 2020

There are 8 new sports that might be in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics such as Baseball/softball, Bowling, Karate, Roller sports, Sports climbing, Squash, Surfing and material arts. I think that three of those should not be in the Olympics I think that some of the sports should be Motocross, Boxing, Enduro MTB and Downhill MTB.

All Blacks get beaten by the Walabies

The game was on Saturday didn't go so well for the All Blacks, but for for the Wallabies it was a good game They out schooled us at the rucks turning over ball, making breaks where the All Blacks should have tackled them near the end of the game were the score was 20-19 to the Wallabies and the half back dummied it and broke through two tackles. The final score was 27-19 quite disappointing for the All Blacks hopefully they can play good game and win the bledisloe cup this weekend in den park on home turf.

Robbie Maddison rides waves on his motorbike

Have you ever heard of someone riding waves on a motorbike no I bet you haven't. A Aussie stunt motorbike rider Robbie Madison has just recently made history when he did that, he has done a lot of very risky things on his motorbike like jumping the length on a football field, jumping across the Corinth Canal in Greece and of the Olympic ski jump at salt lake city, But he has taken it to the next level riding across the sea and very big waves at Tahiti in between New Zealand and Mexico, on a motorbike. The motorbike has a frame on the bottom of it that is acting like ski’s, he has got a special tire on it that is mostly used to ride on sand Junes and it had a custom airbag fitted to that he inflate and stop his bike from sinking.

Floating and sinking

If you get two oranges one is peeled one is not, which one will float? The orange with the skin on it will float because of the lower density, the skin also acts as a life jacket and seals the orange and it will be more buoyant. The orange without the skin will not float because of the high density. If something is hollow it floats better as well because of the air inside of it.

BMX world champs Belgium

On Tuesday at the start of last week the BMX world champs started. In cruisers and twenty inch New Zealand had two world no 1’s from the 10 girls and the 14 year old girls, we had six world no 2’s, we didn't have any world no 3’s but we 2 world no 4’s, 2 world no 5’s, 2 world no 6’s, 2 world no 7’s and 2 world no 8’s which is pretty good for a small country we could have had more but a few people were a bit unlucky and crashed out or had a bit of a bad race. The elites had time trials on Friday New Zealand's best in the time trials was Sarah Walker, she got bronze in the super time trial which is pretty good. On race day it was very wet and windy and there were a lot of people crashing New Zealand’s best was Codi Merito, he got 5th in junior elite.

Drama 2015

I really enjoyed drama this year it was really entertaining and fun. At the start of drama we learnt about what drama is and the meaning of drama is, then we played games to do with expression, we played wink murderer, back seat driver and beat detector. At the end of drama we did a play we got to choose if we wanted to write your own play or do one that is out of a book, most people did one out of a book but me Jake and Ben made our own one called The Small Lez Show, we performed our play to whetu along with some other groups.

Mick Fanning shark attack

Mick Fanning was at a surfing competition in south Africa. He was out waiting for a wave to come when he sensed something behind him, he turned around and saw a fin and the shark tried to drag him under but the shark got its mouth tangled in the leg rope and it snapped. Mick got away and then got rescued by a boat. Some people interviewed him and he said that he felt like he was lucky but then he said he didn't.

My goals

One of my goals is putting more important things first, prioritizing my time better and working in spaces that I can work independently. Another one is organizing my plan better and following it more often than I normally do because it will make it easier to get my work done. My last one is getting things done that need to be done not just the things that I want to do.
